Healthy gifts for the whole family
Every year my Cyber Monday’s inbox is stuffed with “grab-it-while-supply-last” advertisements. This “tradition” has grown far beyond the retail space, into the health and quantified self services. For example, in Cyber Monday’s newsletter this year, FitBit endorses subscribers for giving the “healthy gifts for the whole family” with this:
“It’s the perfect time of year to tell your loved ones how important they are to you. Inspire them this season with a gift that will help keep them healthy all year.”
I personally had gifted and been gifted a wearable self-tracking device before. While self-tracking and keeping personal fitness can be a touchy subject, I think more and more people especially in the younger age group are interested in keeping track of our health and well-being. Judging by the growth of the quantified-self movements and the number of tracking mobile apps in the past year alone.
